Silent Plead

Solitary with my thoughts
Events of yesterdays past reluctant to leave my mind
The child in me pleads to be heard
Aching to be understood

Self righteousness was never my intention
But only to partake the wisdom from
The battle scars of my life
Relentlessly seeking approval

Resolving to let it go
Out of the corner I’ve backed myself into
Continuing to walk the path
Committing to become better than I was
