That's Amore
Last night, a couple of co-workers and I got together to celebrate International Women's Day. I took this pic from the balcony of Sens restaurant which by the way is worth checking out especially for the given view. The moon was beautiful. The pic taken by my dumbPhone though did not do the moon justice at all but you get the idea - it's the white dot over the Bay Bridge :)
While in Hawaii, there were a couple of evenings when the man and I watched the sky and listened to the sound of the waves crashing gently on the beach. One time we used the nifty app called Starwalk to identify the constellations. Initially though we couldn't figure out why the moon wouldn't align itself on the phone only realizing later on that we needed to change the setting to reflect Hawaii as the home base. Dinner? $15, Sarong? $5, Front row seats to the greatest show on Earth? Priceless.
warm and breathless and full of things we held on to
and the places that defined summer
start to melt together, the sand on our feet
and the bug bites too and the taste of every sunset
that slipped through between us
somehow each day was its own lifetime
we love and eat and the sun spun around us without fail
and every night we looked up at the freckled sky
we fell in love with the universe all over again
in all of these places, i could find a home in not having one
i will be counting the stars
for the rest of my life
sun-kissed ... star-gazed ... moon-beamed,

What I need...
Some waves
Enough food
A lil bit of you
And a whole lot of LOVE
Happy New Year Bloggies. A little late you say? No, I'm right on time.
I've been around actively creating, finding inspiration, getting inspired, laughing, crying, loving and everything else in between. The last part of 2011 was hectic on all fronts - home, work, beloved friends and family. There was no time for sharing through this medium. But you were never far from my mind. I have been missing this a lot - the sharing of thoughts and experiences, stories and emotions.
I didn't do a yearly review of last year. So many wonderful memories happened to compile, so in return, I'll just try my best to recount the stories throughout the year.
Quick recap: I'm still doing the same job but hopefully will be starting a new one soon - same company but at a different capacity. Still living in my tiny studio with Tugboat who is a character and a half. He still warms my heart and brightens even my gloomiest day just by having him around.
Still with the man and things are slowly getting better. I had a rough start and it's been a self-journey to get where I'm at today. There's still plenty of room for improvement but that's how relationships are - a work in progress.
We did however go on a trip recently. It's our first real vacation ever as a couple. We went to my most favorite vacation spot - Hawaii. If you would have told me a year ago that this year, we would go on a fun vacation and we will do together my absolute love right now (surfing), I would have laughed, made a monkey face and called it a day, but we did and I had a wonderful time.
This pic was taken right after we woke up from our beach nap. Definitely a favorite moment from our trip.

His name is Cab. He hosted our stay in Haleiwa, North Shore. He's amazing!

Being thankful. Sharing my gratitude with others.
Really speaking my truth, from my heart. I try everyday.
Listening from my heart.
And really focusing on staying in the sweet space of my heart.
I’m just really grateful for all that has been brought into my life.
The ups. The downs. The bad. The good. The darkness. The light.
I’m looking forward to a most magnificent 2012.
I’m looking forward to sharing it all with you.

Dessert First ... Don't Delay
Wow! just when I thought that my weekend could not get any better, my Sunday turned from Awesome to RAD!!! ( I love that word! it's so 80's side ponytail)
I volunteered for Project Open Hand's annual fundraising event called Dessert First. The event was held at the Intercontinental Hotel and it was amazing! The line up of the restaurants and pastry chefs that participated was spectacular. I was in dessert heaven. I got assigned to monitor the cheese station but we were allowed to walk around whenever we "needed" a break. Let's just say that I was constantly "needing breaks"...hee hee. They overbooked the number of volunteers so I got to mingle and socialize more than usual. I walked the floor and tasted every single, delicious, delightful sweetness laid out perfectly at each table. My new friend and I strategized that the only way that we could possibly taste all of the dessert was to share it - half bite each; success!
I hate to give away the ending but... we're all gonna die. So eat dessert first and don't delay!

They also had a photo booth. I swear, the next party I throw will have one. It's a really fun way to capture the moments and your mood. I was sugar high, ecstatic, giddy and all sorts of silly.

Are you killing time? Or bringing it to life?
Today I am happy because I don't have any reason not to be.
I'm finally on the tail end if not at the end of the pity party I threw myself a short while ago. I've come up for air and it's as if I have taken my first breath of life. I feel Renewed, Rejoiced, Present.
For the first time today, the man watched as I clumsily paddled my way out in the water, tumbled through the breaks and caught a couple of good rides. He sat at the beach and cheered me on. It was definitely a role reversal. I'm normally the one on the sidelines beaming proudly of the man that I have fallen blissfully in love with. Yes bloggies, this hopeful romantic has finally unlocked her heart. I've let go. I've given myself the freedom to fall. After all freedom and free will are the by-products of Love. I am stepping into a new paradigm allowing spiritual growth and love lead the way. Listening to my intuition, trusting my gut and expressing myself authentically without hiding.
I am super excited to see what the universe has in store for me...For a minute there, I didn't think it could ever get better.
But I am more open than ever, to everything, right now.
Sure, I had moments of crying on the couch, drinking wine and stuffing myself silly with cupcakes...I had moments of anger.
But then I remember its all a huge blessing. I am right where I need to be.
I am grateful.
For whatever we lose (like a you or a me). It's always ourselves we find in the sea
- e.e. cummings
Oh and to all my lefty bloggies out there.... Happy Left Handers Day!!!
Loving you,
Jakey
